Nilssen/Westling is a duo consisting of Thomas Nilssen on the trombone and Marius Westling on the fiddle. For the past three years, they have made a name for themselves with top placements in the samspell class at the National Festival of Old-fashioned Dance Music, of which they have taken two 2nd places and one 1st place.
They primarily play round dance music from Hedmark, where they emphasize finding unknown and little-used music. Much of that music goes under the name "storgardsmusikk", but also more standard round dance, known as "drengstuemusikk".
They have an ongoing project where they are looking for music from sources that come from, settled in or generally had a connection to Hamar. This repertoire, as well as spring dances from Hedmark and a pole dance or two, will be heard by the audience this evening!
The trio Brandsbol/Sandum/Wallin takes you on a dance tour through Norway, Värmland and Skåne. With fiddles, viola d’amore, dulcimer and accordion, they create a lively interpretation of folk music, where traditional songs meet their own compositions. Karin Brandsbol and Karin Wallin found each other in collaboration already in the 90s. Now they have strengthened the duo with the button virtuoso Øyvind Sandum from Vågå. The result is a playful trio with a repertoire that includes everything from polska, slängpolska, springdans, springleik, minuet, polka, waltz, reindeer and more.
Welcome to a brilliant evening of dancing!
